You will see some of the highlights of the city while traveling to the hotel, including Pashupatinath Temple, Narayanhiti Royal Palace Museum, and the peaceful Garden of Dreams. Once you arrive at your hotel, a representative will meet you to discuss your itinerary and answer any questions you might have about it. After you check into your hotel, the rest of the day is yours to explore the busy streets, cafés, and shops of Thamel or relax at your hotel.

Day 2Sightseeing in Kathmandu

Start your sightseeing excursion by meeting your guide and climbing into your private vehicle. Your first stop will be Kathmandu Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where you will walk among centuries-old royal palaces, intricate carvings on countless temples, and traditional courtyard-style buildings indicative of the venerable history of ancient Kathmandu.

Your next destination on your journey is Swayambhunath, commonly referred to as the Monkey Temple. Swayambhunath is a sacred stupa located atop a hill that contains both Buddhist and Hindu cultural influences, and provides fabulous views of the Kathmandu Valley and the distant peaks of the Himalayas.

The next stop on your tour is Pashupatinath Temple, one of the premier Hindu pilgrimage destinations in Southeast Asia. Pashupatinath Temple is built on the banks of the Bagmati River, where you will get a glimpse of the open-air cremation ceremonies and experience the spiritual practices surrounding the temple complex.

The last stop of the day is the incredible Boudhanath Stupa (another UNESCO World Heritage Site), which is one of the largest stupas in the world. The stupa dates back to approximately 600 A.D. and represents the center of Tibetan Buddhist culture, surrounded by local life, monasteries, and prayer wheels.

After an amazing day of cultural experiences, you will head back to your accommodation to rest and relax.

Early in the morning, our Jeep trek to Syabrubesi begins. As we move out of the valley, the landscape begins to uncurl before our eyes, so we can see how different the landscape and lifestyle are as we move ahead. As we reach the village of Ranipauwa, you will get spectacular views of the Annapurna peaks in the western part of the landscape and the Langtang peaks in the eastern part. Moving ahead, the trek takes you along the Trisuli River, and eventually, you enter the Langtang National Park, where the remoteness of the area starts hitting you.

After taking some time to rest, we will also visit the villages and enjoy the Tamang culture, which dominates the region.

After some time, the forest breaks into wide, peaceful grasslands offering magnificent views of the Ganesh Himal, Langtang Range, and the Sanjen Ranges standing tall against the horizon. Day 6Nagthali to Briddhim (2,290 m) via Thuman (2,338 m), hiking duration: 6 to 7 hours

We start the day with a smooth descent of an hour’s trek to the village of Thuman, a Tamang village that is heavily tilted towards the culture of the Tibetans. The people of this region are friendly and famous for their singing and dancing skills. We trek from Thuman after enjoying the experience with the culture of the people in the village, and move forward towards the Briddim village, which has also been influenced by the culture of the Tibetans. The trek route is lined with the beauty of the rhododendron forests and the green pastures in the spring season, when the flowers bloom beautifully in the region. We can taste the local cuisine in Briddim.

Includes: English-speaking trekking guide, Porter, and an overnight accommodation at an available local lodge in Briddhim.

Day 7Briddim to Lama Hotel (2,324 m), hiking duration: 7 to 8 hours

Our day begins quite early as we have a long trekking route to cover before reaching Lama Hotel. Our trekking journey will take us through the jungles as well as some villages. Day 8Lama Hotel to Langtang Village (3,430 m), hiking duration: 5 to 6 hours

Today promises to be one of the toughest days on this trek, with us gaining almost 1,000 meters in elevation. First, we climb up a steep and forested path that takes us towards the Langtang River. As we go up, after a while, the path takes us to Ghoda Tabela, which is “Horse Stable” in English—a picturesque point where the valley expands beautifully. The path then eases up, and you can see groups of yaks grazing peacefully in meadows that lie wide and sprawling before you.

After hiking for some time, we cross a small stream and pass by some prayer wheels that are turned by water. Now and then, we get to enjoy such a special experience. We finally arrive at the Langtang Village, which is the oldest settlement in this area. At this point, the mountains that surround this location are simply breathtaking.

Includes: English-speaking trekking guide, Porter, and an overnight accommodation at available local lodge in Langtang Village.

Day 9Langtang to Kyanjin Gompa (3,870 m), hiking duration: 3 to 4 hours

The trail follows on and offers the most spectacular views of Langtang Lirung rising above the valley as we ascend to Kyanjin Gompa. En route, we pass the largest mani wall in the region, built from thousands of carved stones with sacred prayers inscribed onto them. The route also goes by traditional water mills, chortens, and sacred stone piles with spiritual inscriptions that add to the cultural interest of the journey. At last, after crossing a few rivers, we will reach Kyanjin Gompa. Here, you can try some delicious cheese and curd made from the milk of yaks-a specialty in this area and truly different after the day’s trek.

Day 10Explore Kyanjin Gompa (3,870 m) and Tserko RI (5,000 m), hiking duration: 5 to 6 hours

For those who are more adventurous, you can make a trek up to Tserko Ri, which rises to an altitude of 5,000 meters for some awe-inspiring panoramic views of the surrounding peaks. Being at this high altitude, you will notice the much thinner air; take your time and walk at a leisurely pace. After taking in the stunning mountain scenery, we make our return to Kyanjin Gompa. The rest of the day can be spent in leisurely walks around the village, enjoying the serene landscapes and the tranquil atmosphere of this Himalayan setting.

Includes: English-speaking trekking guide, Porter, and an overnight accommodation at an available local lodge in Kyanjin Gompa.

Day 11Trek back to Lama Hotel, hiking duration: 6 to 7 hours

Today is a 6-7-hour downhill walk through the dense forest, and finally, we reach Lama Hotel. On the way, you will go through typical Tamang settlements that still follow religious and cultural practices relating to Tibetan origin. This section of the trek offers both natural beauty and cultural insight as you make your way down through serene woodland and charming villages.

This walk offers a life-changing experience where personal development and the splendor of nature combine to create a journey that will never be forgotten.

Travel Insurance

Nepal has a lot to offer with its incredible natural beauty, rich culture, and warm hospitality. Travelling can also come with risks, which is why anyone visiting Nepal needs to consider purchasing travel insurance, particularly those involved in adventure activities or trekking, as well as those who will be travelling to remote areas of Nepal. A well-rounded insurance policy can provide peace of mind through protection against the following:

  • Emergency medical care
  • Trip cancellations/delays
  • Lost or damaged baggage
  • Altitude sickness from high elevations
  • Emergency rescue/evacuation by helicopter

Many trekking routes in Nepal are over 3000 meters (9842 ft); therefore, your policy should specifically state that high altitude travel is part of your Insurance plan, as well as the option to be evacuated in the event of an emergency. Choosing the right policy will help you receive the best possible care in your time of need.
