Tour Details

Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales, went on a Royal Bhutan Tour in April 2016. We can give you the chance to live a similar experience to that of the Royal Family.
Bhutan is a mystic and very happy kingdom that is still very isolated from the rest of the world. Furthermore, this small kingdom is a carbon-negative country that has valleys covered with forests, fortified monasteries, sacred mountains, and art and architecture that are unique to the region.
This Royal Bhutan Tour will give you the chance to explore the history and heritage of this beautiful and peaceful kingdom, as well as a visit to its hidden countryside.

Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Paro (Bhutan) and Drive to Thimphu

Your experience in this magical kingdom begins with a flight over the Himalayas into the Paro Valley, which is truly one of the most spectacular sights in life. You will see some of the world’s highest and most spectacular peaks and experience the breathtaking approach into the valley, with its original alpine forests, monasteries, temples, and farmhouses nestled in breathtaking mountain seclusion.

Your Bhutan visa will then be stamped in your passport upon arrival at Paro International Airport. After clearing customs and immigration, your Bhutanese guide will meet you at the welcome gate and take you to Thimphu.

Later in the afternoon, visit Tashichho Dzong, which means “Fortress of the Glorious Religion,” built in 1641. The Dzong was later rebuilt by the Third King, His Majesty Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, in 1965. Tashichho Dzong is the administrative and religious heart of Bhutan and houses the throne room of His Majesty the King, the government ministries, the country’s largest monastery, and the headquarters of His Holiness the Je Khenpo and the monastic body. The National Assembly Hall, in a new building across the river, is the Parliament House.

You will have free time in the evening to explore Thimphu town.

Includes: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Airfare, Private transport, an English-speaking guide, and an overnight accommodation at Hotel Migmar or a similar hotel in Thimpu.

Day 2Sightseeing in Thimphu

The second day of your Royal Bhutan Tour will see you immersing yourself in nature, taking walks in Jigme Dorji National Park, and trekking to Tango Monastery. The afternoon will be spent at the Buddha viewpoint in Buddha Dordenma, visiting the art school, and taking a stroll through the weekend market. You will also get to take a relaxing walk through town.

Includes: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Airfare, Private transport, an English-speaking guide, and an overnight accommodation at Hotel Migmar or a similar hotel in Thimpu.

Day 3Thimphu to Punakha

Explore the beautiful temples at Dochula Pass. On the third day of the Royal Bhutan Tour, learn about the flora and fauna of Bhutan by visiting the Royal Botanical Garden at Royal Botanical Garden Lamperi. In the afternoon, go for a hike to the fertility temple, Chimi Lhakhang, in Mesina. In the evening, participate in the prayers with the nuns in Punakha and experience the spiritual side of Bhutanese culture.

Includes: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Private transport, English-speaking tour guide, and Overnight accommodation at Hotel Zangto Pelri or a similar hotel in Punakha.

Day 4Punakha Sightseeing

Visit the massive Punakha Dzong, a magnificent fortress, and be amazed at the amazing arts and crafts on display in the Dzong complex. Take a walk over the Punakha Suspension Bridge, one of the longest suspension bridges in Bhutan. Later in the afternoon, indulge in adventure sports by camping and rafting, giving you an extra adrenaline rush in your day.

Includes: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Private transport, an English-speaking tour guide, and Overnight accommodation at Hotel Zangto Pelri or a similar hotel in Punakha.

Day 5Punakha to Paro

Retrace our journey back to Paro through Dochula Pass, Thimphu, and Chuzom. On arrival, you will get to experience dressing up in traditional Bhutanese clothes (Gho and Kira), learn archery, which is the national game of Bhutan, and visit a farmhouse to have a traditional Bhutanese meal. The day ends with a hot stone bath before checking into your hotel.

Includes: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Private transport, an English-speaking guide, and an overnight accommodation at Metta Resort or a similar hotel in Paro.

Day 6Paro Tiger Nest Hike

After breakfast, take a day hike to the holy Paro Taktsang, also known as the ‘Tiger’s Nest,’ which is precariously perched on a rock face 900 meters above the valley floor. According to legend, Guru Rinpoche flew to this spot on the back of a tigress and meditated there for three months. This is one of the holiest places in Bhutan and is visited not only by Bhutanese pilgrims but also by pilgrims from other Buddhist countries. You can have lunch at the Taktsang cafeteria, from which you can see the monastery.

In the evening, you can spend your time as you like, or you can use it for last-minute shopping or a visit to a local café. Take a final walk around the town, perhaps visiting a nearby monastery.

Includes: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Private transport, an English-speaking guide, and an overnight accommodation at Metta Resort or a similar hotel in Paro.

Travel Insurance

Nepal has a lot to offer with its incredible natural beauty, rich culture, and warm hospitality. Travelling can also come with risks, which is why anyone visiting Nepal needs to consider purchasing travel insurance, particularly those involved in adventure activities or trekking, as well as those who will be travelling to remote areas of Nepal. A well-rounded insurance policy can provide peace of mind through protection against the following:

  • Emergency medical care
  • Trip cancellations/delays
  • Lost or damaged baggage
  • Altitude sickness from high elevations
  • Emergency rescue/evacuation by helicopter

Many trekking routes in Nepal are over 3000 meters (9842 ft); therefore, your policy should specifically state that high altitude travel is part of your Insurance plan, as well as the option to be evacuated in the event of an emergency. Choosing the right policy will help you receive the best possible care in your time of need.

Trekking Gears

For hikers traveling to the Nepalese Himalayas, it’s essential to have the correct trekking equipment. Depending on what elevation you’re at, the weather might change drastically, so it’s crucial to use and carry the proper clothing and equipment in order to enjoy a safe and comfortable trip.

If you don’t want to travel with your own equipment, there are plenty of places in Nepal where you can rent or purchase what you need (particularly in Thamel, Kathmandu’s main shopping district). There are also locations within the city where you can find stores that offer a variety of high-quality trekking apparel and equipment at very reasonable prices.
