Pattale Hill Village, a small mountain settlement about 240 km east of Kathmandu, is one of the finest viewpoints to witness the magnificent Mt. Everest (8,848 m) along with many other Himalayan peaks. The journey to Pattale passes through scenic villages, river valleys, and terraced hillsides, offering a beautiful introduction to rural Nepal.
A short hike around Pattale provides insight into the unique culture and lifestyle of the local communities. The area is home to Magar, Sherpa, Rai, and Tamang people, whose primary occupations include agriculture, trade, and tourism. Visitors can experience authentic traditions and the rich cultural heritage of these communities.
From February to April, the hills come alive with blooming rhododendrons, the national flower of Nepal, adding vibrant color and enhancing the natural beauty of Pattale Hill.
Highlights of the Pattale Hill Trek:
We begin our journey early at 5:30 am, driving towards Pattale Hill along the banks of the Sun Koshi River. The drive takes around 8 hours, passing through lush greenery, including the Churia Hills, small villages, and flowing rivers, with a mix of ascending and descending roads before finally reaching Pattale Village.
After some refreshments, take a short hike around the village. You can also visit the local market, where people from nearby villages gather to sell their goods.

Early in the morning, hike up to Pattale Hill to witness a stunning sunrise over the Himalayan range. From the viewpoint, enjoy breathtaking panoramas of Mt. Everest (8,848 m), Mt. Makalu (8,643 m), Lhotse (8,516 m), Nuptse (7,864 m), Kanchenjunga (8,586 m), Ama Dablam (6,812 m), Mera Peak (6,461 m), and other peaks such as Number, Karyalung, Cholatse, Taboche, Thamserku, Chamlang, and Pumori.
After taking in these incredible views, return to the hotel for breakfast, and then retrace your journey back to Kathmandu.
