Dhampus Peak Climbing is an exciting adventure experience at a high altitude and is part of the larger Dhaulagiri Circuit experience. This climb is usually done after reaching Dhaulagiri Base Camp and is therefore an extension of the Dhaulagiri climb. At this point, climbers get to experience more of the high-altitude adventure and get closer to the high Himalayas and one of the best trekking peaks in the region.
Climbing Dhampus Peak, which rises to an altitude of 6,012 meters, involves traversing through glacial regions and technical sections while being assisted by experienced guides and using equipment such as ropes, crampons, and ice axes. This is an excellent experience for trekkers to get a feel of basic mountaineering while being immersed in the stunning alpine scenery of the region.
The experience is also complemented by stunning views of other peaks in the region, including Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, Tukuche Peak, and other peaks in the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges, among others. Therefore, Dhampus Peak is an excellent adventure experience for adventure enthusiasts looking to take on the experience of climbing a peak in the Himalayas after completing the Dhaulagiri Base Camp experience.

Welcome! To Kathmandu, Nepal. You will be welcomed by an Asian Heritage Travel representative with a nameplate upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, and you will then be taken to your hotel located within the busy tourist district known as Thamel in Kathmandu. You will see some of the highlights of the city while traveling to the hotel, including Pashupatinath Temple, Narayanhiti Royal Palace Museum, and the peaceful Garden of Dreams. Once you arrive at your hotel, a representative will meet you to discuss your itinerary and answer any questions you might have about it. After you check into your hotel, the rest of the day is yours to explore the busy streets, cafés, and shops of Thamel or relax at your hotel.

We start our journey through a beautiful drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara. As we move through the twisting roadways, let us take in the sight of lush green fields, terraced farmland, and hills of Nepal.

This valley is renowned for its untouched natural beauty, peaceful environment, and striking Himalayan ranges. The trek starts with a drive from Pokhara to Darbang via Beni, a major center in the Dhaulagiri Zone. From there, the trekking journey begins toward Dharapani, passing through the beautiful banks of the Myagdi River. During the trek, you will cross through small villages of the Magar people, experiencing their hospitality amidst the natural beauty of the Myagdi River. This is the first phase of the trek, covering both driving and trekking through the beautiful landscapes of the Himalayas.

The trek to Muri Village starts with a picturesque walk through the fields and the traditional Magar settlement of Takam. Along the way, the trek offers breathtaking views of the Dhaulagiri range and the Gurja Himal, as well as the beautiful Myagdi Khola. Along the way, you will pass through Gatti Khola, which features a traditional water mill indicative of the lifestyle of the locals. The trek then takes you through Phaliyagaon, which features steep climbs through the forest.
Finally, the trek takes you to the top of the large Magar village of Muri, where you can explore the region and experience the culture and traditions of the locals.

Today, your real trekking experience begins as you leave Muri and continue the climb through the lush forests and farmlands. The climb is gradual, and the views of Mt. Dhaulagiri and other peaks are breathtaking. Along the way, you will pass through small villages and cross some suspension bridges over the glacial rivers, which will make the experience more adventurous.
As you continue the climb, the terrain becomes more rugged as you get closer to Bagar, a quiet and less populated place, which has been used traditionally for grazing and farming.

As you leave Bagar, the day’s route takes you deeper into the forested terrain, with the sounds of the flowing streams adding to the serenity of the trekking experience. The route takes you along the Myagdi Khola river bed, moving upwards through the forested terrain of rhododendron and oak trees.
As the route progresses, the trail becomes narrower and steeper, which is characteristic of the transition from the settled to the mountain terrain. Dobhan Kharka is a quiet place surrounded by cliffs and forested hillsides, which is often used as a stopover for the night by trekkers as well as shepherds.

Continuing from Dobang, your route takes you to Sallaghari via dense forests along the picturesque Myagdi Khola. The route takes you over a wooden bridge, adding an adventurous touch to the trek. During your walk through the jungle, you may catch a glimpse of wild animals along the route.
The route also takes you through peaceful grazing spots, where sheep, goats, and cows graze, giving the route a peaceful ambiance. The route, however, has steep climbs and landslides, and the route has to be navigated carefully. Before reaching Sallaghari, there is a beautiful waterfall, and the route is both adventurous and scenic.

Continuing with the trek, you will be moving towards Italian Base Camp as you climb through the dense forest with changing landscapes. Along the way, you will be moving through the forest with undulating terrain, which will finally lead you to the vicinity of a glacier. Along the way, you will experience the climate changing to a colder alpine kind.
Along the way, the landscapes will also be changing as the forest gives way to open terrain with heather and juniper bushes. Moving through the riverbed several times will finally lead you to Italian Base Camp. Along the way, you will be rewarded with the breathtaking view of the snow-covered peaks, dominated by the majestic Dhaulagiri I (8,172m).

Today is a day of acclimatization, allowing your body to get accustomed to the higher elevation before entering the more remote terrain. Today, you have the option of a short trek around the camp, where you can head towards the ridges for a better view of the Dhaulagiri range. The mountain amphitheater is a great place for photography. Acclimatizing here will help you prepare for the tougher glacier traversals.

From the Italian Base Camp, the route continues towards the glacier region. The route becomes more rugged as you climb towards the terminal moraine of the Chhonbardan Glacier. The route becomes more spectacular as you get to see the icefall, the rugged terrain, and the towering peaks along the way.
As you cross the glacier, the view of the Dhaulagiri peaks makes the walk worth the effort. From there, you will arrive at Chhonbardan Glacier Camp, which is located at the base of the spectacular Dhaulagiri icefall.

Today’s trek takes you onto the glacier and further into the heart of the Dhaulagiri range. This is considered to be one of the tougher days of the trek as you will be traversing through the ice, moraine, and rough terrain.
As you near the Dhaulagiri Base Camp, the imposing face of the Dhaulagiri massif comes into view with considerable detail. This is considered to be one of the greatest scenic spots of the Dhaulagiri Circuit trekking route. You will be setting up camp in a breathtaking amphitheater of mountains.

This is arguably the most thrilling and challenging day of the trek. You will ascend steadily along the glacier, making a final push to the top of the French Col, a high-altitude mountain pass with prayer flags flapping in the wind, surrounded by spectacular views of the Dhaulagiri range. From the top of the French Col, you will be able to see the vastness of the Himalayas.
After viewing the spectacular scenery from the top of the French Col, you will descend into the Hidden Valley, a vast high-altitude plateau with a barren landscape that is reminiscent of the moon.

After having an early breakfast, we will begin our journey towards Dhampus Peak Base Camp, which is our destination for the night. It will take around five to six hours of trekking through the lush green vegetation, passing through the continuous views of the mountain peaks. Once we reach the destination, we will look for a campsite.

Today is a rest and acclimatization day at the Dhampus Peak Base Camp. You have the option of relaxing and letting your body acclimate to the altitude, or you could take a small trek around the area.

We will start early with an early breakfast at Dhampus Base Camp and begin our journey towards High Camp. This will take us approximately three to four hours, and we will reach an altitude of 5,600 meters. On arrival, we will set up the necessary equipment for the climb and begin to get ready for the climb to the summit. We will spend the night at High Camp.

You will begin your summit attempt very early in the morning, utilizing the preparations made the previous day. The summit attempt is technically challenging, but you will be accompanied by your experienced climbing team throughout the attempt.
Following the successful summit of Dhampus Peak (6,012m), you will be treated to panoramic views of Annapurna South, Dhaulagiri, Tukuche Peak, and other surrounding mountains. You will begin your descent back to Base Camp, and the entire day’s activities will take around six to nine hours. You will spend the night at Base Camp before moving on to the final stages of the expedition.

Today, your destination will be Yak Kharka, and you will carry with you a sense of pride and accomplishment for having successfully climbed to the top.
The trek to Yak Kharka will take around seven to eight hours, and you will pass through scenic beauty and gentle descents. Once you reach Yak Kharka, you will stay overnight in a hotel and enjoy a well-deserved rest.

You will be moving towards Jomsom, a place that lies at an altitude of 2,670 meters. On your way to Jomsom, you will be descending gradually from Yak Kharka. While descending, you will pass through a picturesque village named Marpha, which is locally known as the “Apple Garden.” After moving through this picturesque village, you will finally reach Jomsom and enjoy a comfortable night’s stay.

After breakfast, we will travel from Jomsom to Pokhara, which takes only 25 minutes by air. Upon our arrival, we will check into our hotel, or instead, we can take some time to explore some of the attractions available in Pokhara. Pokhara is a beautiful city with its large lake, temples, interesting caves, and breathtaking mountain scenery. Perhaps the best way to enjoy the beauty of Pokhara is to get a boat ride on Phewa Lake, which offers breathtaking views of Annapurna, Manaslu, and Dhaulagiri.

After having breakfast, you’ll take a scenic road trip from Pokhara to Kathmandu, enjoying all of the beautiful scenery during the trip. Upon arrival, our representative will transfer you to your hotel for relaxation after the long trip.
That evening, you will attend a free time activity, where you can wander around Thamel’s busy streets, full of shops, restaurants, and local culture. This is a great time to experience Kathmandu’s bustling energy before concluding your tour.
