Tour Details

The Nar Phu Valley Trek is one of the untouched and serene trekking routes in the northern part of the Annapurna region, where one can get the majestic views of the peaks such as Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Machhapuchhre, Lamjung Himal, Tilicho peak, etc. This trekking route commences from the region called Bhulbhule.

Along the journey, adventurers get to experience remote villages, narrow canyons, forests, rock formations, yak sightings, ancient Buddhist monasteries, and the unique culture that exists in the Himalayas. Located in one of the remotest areas of the country, the Nar Phu Valley lies between the sacred Damodar Kunda and the Annapurna region. The area is characterized by diverse ethnic groups like Gurungs, Magars, Manangis, and Bhotes who practice Tibetan Buddhism. These traditional Tibetan settlements have retained their original flavor and remain untouched by the modern world.

The Nar Phu Valley Trek route begins with a drive from Kathmandu to Bhulbhule via the Lamjung Highway. Thereafter, we head to Chyamje, where the trek commences. We follow the route to Koto and Meta before finally reaching Phu Village. While in Phu Village, we get to visit the popular monastery, Tashi Lakhang Monastery, ranked among the top 108 in the world.

From Phu, the trek continues deep into the high mountains towards Nar Village with a spectacular view of Lamjung Himal, Tilicho Peak, Annapurna, and others. From here, after passing through Kang La Pass, we will reach the Annapurna Circuit Trail. By moving further on this trail, we will cross the world-famous pass, Thorong La Pass, and reach Muktinath in the lower Mustang region. The journey will come to an end with a flight from Jomsom to Pokhara.

Highlights of the Nar Phu Valley trek:

  • Jaw-dropping mountain views of Annapurna II, Himlung Himal, Gangapurna, and Tilicho Peak.
  • Experience authentic Tibetan culture and traditions preserved through the centuries in remote Himalayan villages.
  • Explore hidden valleys offering untouched landscapes, solitude, and a true sense of adventure.
  • Visit ancient forts and historic settlements showcasing the rich heritage of the Nar and Phu regions.

Travel Insurance

Nepal has a lot to offer with its incredible natural beauty, rich culture, and warm hospitality. Travelling can also come with risks, which is why anyone visiting Nepal needs to consider purchasing travel insurance, particularly those involved in adventure activities or trekking, as well as those who will be travelling to remote areas of Nepal. A well-rounded insurance policy can provide peace of mind through protection against the following:

  • Emergency medical care
  • Trip cancellations/delays
  • Lost or damaged baggage
  • Altitude sickness from high elevations
  • Emergency rescue/evacuation by helicopter

Many trekking routes in Nepal are over 3000 meters (9842 ft); therefore, your policy should specifically state that high altitude travel is part of your Insurance plan, as well as the option to be evacuated in the event of an emergency. Choosing the right policy will help you receive the best possible care in your time of need.

Trekking Gears

For hikers traveling to the Nepalese Himalayas, it’s essential to have the correct trekking equipment. Depending on what elevation you’re at, the weather might change drastically, so it’s crucial to use and carry the proper clothing and equipment in order to enjoy a safe and comfortable trip.

If you don’t want to travel with your own equipment, there are plenty of places in Nepal where you can rent or purchase what you need (particularly in Thamel, Kathmandu’s main shopping district). There are also locations within the city where you can find stores that offer a variety of high-quality trekking apparel and equipment at very reasonable prices.
