The Druk Path Trek is one of Bhutan’s finest short treks. Following an ancient trading route over high mountain passes, it links the Paro and Thimphu valleys. You’ll make a pilgrimage to the iconic Tiger’s Nest Monastery, the Paro Taktsang, before the start of the trek. The trek begins with an uphill walk through apple orchards and pine forests to the ruins of Jele Dzong, which sit atop a grassy ridge with breathtaking views of Mount Jumolhari to the north.
The trail will climb above the tree line over the next three days, crossing numerous passes. You will come across crystal-clear mountain lakes, yak herder’s camps, and enjoy scenic views of the Himalayas along the Bhutan-Tibet border, including Mt. Jumolhari, Jichu Drake, and Gongkar Puensum. The final descent is a long one through pine and juniper forests, via the Phajoding Monastery, reaching Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan.
